2009 Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone Blanc

So, this may be an absurdly over-reaching statement, and it may just be that I don’t drink enough white CdR, but at the moment I think this is quite possibly the best CdR Blanc I’ve ever had. The balance is perfect. Sometimes Marsanne, Roussanne, and Viognier, either alone or in a group, can come off kind of fat and wobbly. The richness in the mid-palate is what you expect from white Rhone wines, but that can come with a finish that lacks focus. That’s not a problem here. There’s stone fruit and melon aromatics that are distinctive without being overpowering, richness in the mid-palate, and acidity in the finish. Simply put, this wine is awesome.
